It was a close vote on all three re-called members of the Toledo City Council. Mayor Billie Jo Smith and City Councilors Terri Strom and Deanne Dunlap. Charges flew back and forth between former city employees and the three on the council, former employees claiming inappropriate behavior on the part of the councilors while the councilors claimed they relied on the city manager and auditors as to what is legal and what isn’t. Most of it centered around the city budget and the way it was dealt with on both sides.
The next step is the election of replacements for those who held the three positions on the council and presumably there will be an effort to fire City Manager Craig Martin as those who opposed Martin’s tenure vowed to have him fired.
