Just after midnight Friday night a Nissan Altima possibly took the curve too fast on Arcadia near the Toledo Cemetery, went through some brush and possibly ruptured the gas tank before coming to rest on its side. The driver managed to escape the wreckage. Upon arrival, Toledo Police and Firefighters found no sign of the driver. By then the car was fully engulfed in flame. The smell of gasoline was pretty strong.
Firefighters kept a steady stream of water and foam on the fire. When they let up, the gas-fed fire would flash back and start burning again. Eventually more foamy water got the best of it, but not before the car was thoroughly gutted.
The license plate on the white 1997 Nissan Altima came back to a male Toledo resident. When they catch up with him, police officers will surely ask him where he was at around midnight Friday night.
