Heeding the warning that an Oregon initiative would likely put recreational marijuana on the ballot in 2014, the state Senate’s Judiciary Committee has already begun talking about how that initiative effort might be formulated. Lawmakers know the tide is turning in favor of recreational use of the weed, despite federal laws that ban it. But federal authorities have also said it would not oppose state laws authorizing its use as long as state regulations were proper and enforced to prevent further illegal trafficking of the weed.
