A woman headed west on Yaquina Bay Road during the noon time Thursday failed to make it around a curve in the road, just east of John Nye Road. The car crossed over the center line and took out a power pole, shearing it off, leaving just the top part of it standing on the pavement – being held up by the power, tv cable and telephone wires still connected to it.
The woman was extracted from her car and taken to an awaiting ambulance. She was reported to be sore in a few places but otherwise looked okay. She was wearing her seat belt.
No word yet on exactly what caused her to lose her way on the curve. Central Lincoln Peoples’ Utility District crews quickly went to work replacing the pole and restoring power to just a few homes and businesses that lost power as the result of the accident.
