A trial date has been set seven months after World Cup Soccer fan Richard Swanson was hit and killed last May as he walked southbound on Highway 101 near Pro Build in Lincoln City. Swanson was doing a charity walk fundraiser from his home in Seattle to Sao Paulo Brazil, site of the 2014 World Cup Soccer Championship. Swanson was hit from behind by a pickup driven by Neskowin resident Scott Hiatt. Hiatt was charged with negligent homicide. A court readiness conference will be held December 30th with Hiatt’s trial to begin January 22nd in Room 300 at the Lincoln County Courthouse.
