Harlem Ambassadors Event this Saturday in Waldport at the high school gym

Harlem Ambassadors Saturday, Nov 9 Waldport High Gym

Harlem Ambassadors
Saturday, Nov 9
Waldport High Gym

Hoops and hijinks are coming to South Lincoln County on Saturday, November 9 when our very own local challengers, the IRISH LIONS, take on the Harlem Ambassadors in a comedy basketball show the whole family will enjoy. The show starts at 7:00 P.M. , doors open at 6:20 P.M. at New Waldport High School on Crestline. Proceeds from the event benefit New High School and will be used to finance projects for the Athletic
programs.

The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, hilarious comedy routines, music, dancing and games for the kids. The Ambassadors feature non-stop laughs and deliver a positive message for kids wherever the Ambassadors play. “At our shows, we want the kids to know that they’re part of our team too,” Coach Ladè Majic said. “We invite as many kids as we can to come sit on the bench, have a front row seat during the show, and get involved in all of the fun stuff we do.”

The Ambassadors set themselves apart from other “Harlem-style” basketball teams by working with local not-for-profit and service organizations and holding Harlem Ambassadors shows as community fundraising events. For Waldport’s event the Ambassadors have partnered with LION’S CLUBS IN
Yachats & Waldport and the Waldport High School Booster’s Club to help raise funds for support of our NEW HIGH SCHOOL Booster’s Club.

The IRISH LIONS team will include athletic director, Melissa Steinman as coach and player, Principal, Tyler Stiner, Pastors Kevin Pruitt and Brian Heron, Columbia Banker, Bo Smith, Pharmacist Tim Lowery, and several players from the Angell Job Corps. Referees will include Debra Novgrod, Broker, Yachats Office of Emerald Coast Realty.

“It feels good to be able to bring quality entertainment and create memories that our kids will take with them,” states Max Glenn, chair of the planning team and secretary of Yachats Lions. “We’re able to show community support for our new school when we can help provide funding for athletic programs, and that feels great.”

“I’m really proud of how local businesses in south county have stepped up to help sponsor and support this fundraising event as well as the many volunteers giving their time,” Glenn said.
