A nice end-of-summer turnout today at the Newport Farmers Market which saw an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, breads and crafts, with matching crowds to take it all in. Lots of peppers, tomatoes, squash, kale and other assorted fresh greens tempted buyers along with starter plants, arts and crafts and the ever-favorite boutique coffee and kettle corn.
This was the last Summer Farmers Market – next week it’ll be the first day of the Fall Farmers Market located in the Main Events Building at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, off Harney and NE 3rd – main entrance to the Fairgrounds. It’s right there. Hours through the end of the year are 10-2 on Saturdays.
Come the new year the Farmers Market will take a couple of months off and then resume in March for another growing-season-run next to Newport City Hall.
