Community Invited to Join in World Record Attempt Dance to “Thriller”
Newport High School Robotics Club and Leadership students are joining forces to help produce the first “Thrill the World” Zombie Dance on Saturday, October 26th. The event will begin at 1 pm at Sam Case Elementary School gym, 459 NE 12th Street, Newport.
The public is invited to participate in the fun; no previous dance experience needed. Admission to the event is one item of nonperishable food which will be donated to Lincoln County food pantries.
“Thrill the World” is an international Guinness Book of World Records attempt, danced simultaneously in 130 locations, in 16 countries. The event was founded in Toronto in 2006 by choreographer Ines Markeljevic, as a tribute to the life and music of Michael Jackson.
The actual dance will begin at 2 pm, with practices and registration beginning at 1 pm at the gym. There are easy-to-follow, instructional dance videos available on youtube via “Thrill the World dance instructions” for those who would like to learn the simple dance. Participants are welcome to dress as zombies for this event, which will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube as part of the worldwide effort.
