A Coast Guard “seal scare” bomb was discovered in a classroom at Toledo High School Wednesday afternoon. The school was evacuated to the upper athletic fields until the “all clear” was given at just after 4pm.
Students were released to their parents around 4:15pm
Seal bomb are used by the Coast Guard to scare off seal and sea lions from jetty sand marker buoys, but there are a number of other applications as well dealing with wildlife.
No word on who was responsible for bringing the device to school. Authorities say the OSP bomb squad will likely put the device in a detonation chamber and just blow it up.
Investigators are still trying to track down who brought the device onto the campus.
