Free Fall Fitness Classes
at the Newport 60+ Activity Center
Fall is a great time to recommit to your health and wellness, as the days grow shorter and the weather keeps you indoors more often. Yoga is one way to achieve better fitness, and can be a very complete workout. Yoga increases flexibility and strength, while incorporating breathing techniques to energize and calm. Other benefits of yoga can be lowered blood pressure, increased lung capacity, improved mood levels and concentration.
Every Thursday at 11:00 am, the 60+ Activity Center offers a free Beginner’s Yoga Class, held in our Health and Wellness Studio. Supplies are included. This easy-does-it and friendly class is led by Martha Llewellyn. Martha has been our resident yogini since June, and everyone who attends her class loves her gentle confidence and sharing spirit.
In addition to the free yoga class, the Activity Center also offers several self-led classes aimed at improving flexibility and promoting general well-being:
* Arthritis Exercise, held every Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 am;
* Breath & Balance, held every Wednesday and Friday at 3:00 pm, and
* Chair Yoga, Mondays at 9:30 am.
The Activity Center is located at 20 SE 2nd Street. For more information, give us a call at (541) 265-9617.
