Lincoln City, OR – See which Northwest chef has the best chowder on the Oregon Coast at the 9th Annual Chowder Cook-Off at Tanger Outlets in Lincoln City on November 9-10, 2013. This two-day event will feature a Best Chowder competition, live music, local beer and wine, kids’ activities and a Native American heritage celebration.

The first day of the Cook-Off, Saturday, November 9th will run from 11am-4pm and feature a Best Chowder competition, with up to ten restaurants competing for the coveted People’s Choice Award. Enjoy musical performances by the Ivie-Meziere Trio and solo artist Mark Alan. Also Saturday only, craft brews will be available from Rusty Truck Brewing and local wines from Nelscott Wine.

On Sunday, November 10th from 11am-3pm, participants will have a second chance to sample all the chowder recipes, including the People’s Choice winners. Celebrate Native American Heritage Month on Sunday with activities presented by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and Chinook Winds Casino Resort, featuring Tribal dancers and drummers, hands-on Native crafting, a Siletz Tribe Story Teller and cooking demonstrations by the Casino’s Executive Chef, Jack Strong.

“We enjoy participating in the Annual Chowder Cook-off,” said Jen Easton of J’s Fish & Chips. “We get exposure for our restaurant and people get a chance to sample our delicious food. For this year’s cook-off, we are taking our award-winning recipe from last year up another notch.”

Admission is $5 for a one-day pass, which includes a tasting-size portion of each chowder and unlimited access to daily entertainment and activities. On both Saturday and Sunday, sweet treats will be available for purchase from My Petit Sweet and Captain Dan’s Pirate Pastry Shop, and local clamming expert Bill Lackner will be on-site to teach you how to catch your dinner. Door prizes will be given away and guests can enter to win a grand prize package from Tanger Outlets.

Kids can join in all of the fun with free face painting all weekend and a sea life exhibit provided by the Whale, Sea Life and Shark Museum in Depoe Bay on Saturday. Kids 12 and under are admitted into the event for free with an accompanying adult.
