RSVP’s Volunteer of the Month for October is Joy Serkowney. Joy has been a volunteer with the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program since 2009. She volunteers her time at the Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, and has served as the Hospital Auxiliary’s president for the last 2 years.
Joy is involved in many groups in the community, including an international women’s philanthropic organization, called Epsilon Sigma Alpha; Joy belongs to the Waldport chapter, called Epsilon Theta.
Joy is always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she can. She was nominated for RSVP Volunteer of the Month by a fellow hospital volunteer, Shellie Marquardt. Shellie says of Joy, “Joy lives up to her name. She is a joy to work with and is always willing to help in any way she can…she is a great asset.”
Joy lives in Seal Rock with her husband, Lloyd, and enjoys attending the Newport Symphony, traveling, and sewing in her free time.
As RSVP’s Volunteer of the Month, Joy received a certificate and dinner for two at Chinook Winds Casino.
