Anytime you’re trying to get millions of Americans signed up for a paradigm change in health care coverage, there’s bound to be a clog in the pipes. In this case, the internet pipes that simply cannot handle the sheer crush of calls from those millions of people who, by law, must sign up.
In Oregon it’s called Cover Oregon. Its internet address is CoverOregon.com. And its server is being hammered. Cover Oregon said that they haven’t been able to develop a 100% internet ready site to get folks’ information, medical needs, and let them shop for a plan that fits their needs and pocket-book.
However, they can assign callers to “certified agents” who can walk them through their options. And they’ll get their paperwork taken care of. Later, the internet site will allow folks to sign up completely on line. Officials said it could be as early as this weekend.
