Community Input Invited During Superintendent Search

Public input is being gathered from community members, educators and students in the search for a new Lincoln County School District superintendent. The current superintendent, Tom Rinearson, will retire at the end of this school year after serving for the past decade.
Community meetings are planned for Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Lincoln City and Toledo; and Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Waldport and Newport. All four community meetings will start at 5:30 p.m., and will take place at the high schools in the respective communities. In addition, an online survey will be available on the school district website (www.lincoln.k12.or.us) for two weeks beginning Oct. 7.
Consultant Greg McKenzie, of Window to Leadership LLC, and an associate will facilitate the meetings and gather information about the qualities and qualifications needed in a new superintendent. They also will gather information from student leaders and LCSD staff during both days.
“I look forward to meeting with Lincoln County residents,” McKenzie said. “I have a long history here, and was the consultant during the search for the current superintendent. This is an important task, and I am pleased to be a part of it.”
