Since a blustery wind and rainy day, you might as well take the kids and head for Yaquina Head Natural Area. They’ll flag you right through the gate, no charge. That’s because it’s Public Lands Day. Not that you want to take the family out on the windiest piece of rock on the Oregon Coast right now. But half-way down the road you’ll find the Yaquina Head Visitors Center where it’s dry, warm, has hot coffee and snacks, AND a full day of kids activities to teach them about Mother Nature and the Oregon Coast. By then they’ll already know that Mother Nature is throwing a fit outside. So just head inside.
The activities will run through about 4:30pm. And again, it’s a no fee day. It’s free to drive through the gate.
