Oregon State Police have re-opened Highway 101 eight miles south of Florence due to a fatal wreck at milepost 198. A head-on collision took the life of a Washington state woman. Here’s the Oregon State release early this morning:
Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of Friday night’s fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year old Washington woman along Highway 101 near Dunes City. The victim’s name was released: Brittany Alexander, 23, of Custer, WA.
On September 27, 2013 at approximately 8:05 p.m., a Chevrolet Spark subcompact car driven by the victim was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 198 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup pulling a box trailer. The Chevrolet’s driver was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pickup’s driver, GUILLERMO LUIS TRUJILLO, age 52, from Happy Valley, was not injured. An adult female passenger and two minor age children were not injured. Two other children in the pickup were transported by ambulance to Peace Harbor Hospital with minor injuries.
OSP troopers from the Florence worksite office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. There is no indication alcohol was a contributing factor. Trooper Darrell Sheets in the lead investigator.
