Lincoln City Water District meets “Outstanding Performance” criteria

The Oregon Health Authority has advised the Lincoln City Water District that its public
water system had successfully met the criteria for “Outstanding Performance”. The status was
conveyed on the Water District after the Oregon Health Authority performed an on-site review of the
water system’s sources, treatment, storage facilities, distribution system, operation and maintenance
procedures, monitoring and management for the purpose of evaluating the system’s ability to provide
safe drinking water to the public.

“I am extremely pleased that the Oregon Health Authority has given our public water system an
Outstanding Performance designation” said David Hawker, City Manager, City of Lincoln City. “We
supply over 20,000 North Lincoln County residents with water and we have put a lot of work over the
years into making that water the best quality possible.”

The criteria set by the Oregon Health Authority’s Drinking Water Program for outstanding
performance are:
1) No Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), Action Level, or Treatment Technique Violations in the
last 5 years;
2) No more than one Monitoring and Reporting violation in the last 3 years. The one violation must be
resolved (results submitted);
3) No significant deficiencies or rule violations identified during the current water system survey; and
4) Has not had a waterborne disease outbreak attributable to the water system in the last 5 years.

There are 73 water districts within Lincoln County. Only 7 of those water districts have been given an
“Outstanding Performance” designation by the Oregon Health Authority. Those districts are:

* Beverly Beach Water District
* City of Depoe Bay
* Johnson Creek Water Service
* Lincoln City Water District
* Otter Rock Water District
* City of Siletz
* SW Lincoln County Water District

The Lincoln City Water District is the largest district within the County to have been awarded the Outstanding Performance designation.
