Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies started out their Friday morning with a report that a chocolate brown older model Honda sedan had rolled off Yaquina Bay Road near Riverbend, down a rocky embankment, landing on its wheels in deep gooey mud.
A neighbor in the area had already climbed down to the car and found it empty. However, up on the pavement there were signs that the driver had managed to survive the ordeal. In fact the tracks looked to be that of somebody wearing large boots and who was running east on Yaquina Bay Road – with a very wide stride.
Two tow trucks were called in to lift the vehicle up and out of the bay mud. Deputies were trying to track down the registered owner.
