From “The Vicarage” in Toledo
Michael Gibbons, artist living and working Toledo, has accepted an invitation to be a Celebrity Artist, Judge, and Panelist at the Plein Air Festival held by the Mendocino Art Center just north of San Francisco September 9-14, 2013. John Hewitt, artist formerly from Toledo, has been the chief organizer of the event which will include Sunrise to Sunset painting; Daily Wet Paint Sale; Morning Quick Draw and afternoon Gallery Reception and Sale. Plein air artists will compete for over $5000. in cash and merchandise awards in this open competition, including a Best of Show Award of $500. in cash and advertising in Plein Air Magazine valued at $2000. plus cash awards for various categories.
Michael Gibbons will paint daily with the artists druing the event and be part of the panel of 8 prominent plein air artists to judge and make the awards for the Plein Air Festival. Gibbons chose his painting created “en plein air” at the Yaquina Head Light House near Newport to exhibit, along with the work of over 50 artists that have registered for the event. He will also work outdoors in the Mendocino area designated for the artists of the event.
