Firefighters around Oregon were on the streets this Labor Day Weekend participating in the annual “Fill The Boot” fundraiser for “Jerry’s Kids” as it used to be known by – The Muscular Dystrophy Association – still chasing a cure for the debilitating disease.
North Lincoln Fire-Rescue personnel were straddling Highway 101 accepting cash from motorists stopped at stop lights. They report they received a little over ten thousand dollars a day for Saturday and Sunday’s efforts – $23,000 total.
Newport Firefighters ran a “Fill The Boot” operation at Highways 20 and 101 on Saturday only, and raised nearly $5,500.
