On August 31st, 2013, at 9:00 am, a South Beach resident called 911 to report someone was attempting to break into his home in the 13700 block of South Coast Highway in South Beach. The man told dispatchers he heard pounding and prying against his front door and could see his door was bulging in. The man yelled out from inside his residence and then observed a subject pulling down his driveway in a blue Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed. He said there were pry marks and cracked wood on his door and door frame.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 101 near Ferry Slip Road. Deputies detained the driver, Jason Russell Girod, 42, of Bend. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a crow bar, hammer, gloves, and flashlights. Deputies also located a plastic bag containing prescription controlled medication not belonging to Girod.
Deputies took Girod into custody for attempted burglary I; unlawful possession of burglary tools; criminal mischief II; and unlawful possession of prescription medication. Girod was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail with a total bail of $175,000.
