Marijuana advocates are celebrating widely across the country this week as the U.S. Justice Department, which includes the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration, has announced it won’t arrest anyone who uses pot recreationally as long as they’re doing it in a state that regulates the weed and the proceeds don’t wind up in the hands of gangs and other underworld drug distributors. The federal withdrawal of enforcement will be seen immediately in Washington and in Colorado whose voters recently approved recreational use of marijuana.
