A traffic/travel reminder from ODOT:
Construction will begin soon on the second of two paving projects that are placing new asphalt on more than 27 miles of US 101 in Lincoln and Tillamook counties.
This project will repave US 101 from Beverly Beach State Park to the north end of Newport and from just south of Newport to Waldport. There are three parts to the project:
Beverly Beach to the north end of Newport (MP 134.08-139.11)
Approx. Lost Creek recreation area south through Seal Rock (MP 146.9 – 153.2)
North end of the Alsea Bay Bridge extending north about a half mile (MP 154.7-155.25)
Beginning approximately August 26 and continuing until approximately September 6, a contractor for ODOT will be paving the northern segment (MP 134.08-139.11). Construction will take place Monday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., and Sunday nights between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. There will be no construction during the Labor Day Weekend.
Beginning approximately September 8 and continuing until the end of September, the southern segments (MP 146.9-153.2 and 154.7-155.25) will be paved.
The initial project, located on US 101 from the OR 18 interchange to just north of the Lincoln/Tillamook County line (milepost 90.33-105.64) is expected to complete paving Sunday night, August 25. Striping and shoulder work should be completed by the end of August.
During construction, motorists should anticipate single lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers. Delays of 5-15 minutes should be anticipated.
The low-bid contracts of $3.38 million and $2.38 million were awarded to High Desert Aggregate and Paving, Inc.
