Fishing boat sank 80 miles off Newport a few days ago – everybody escaped okay, including the cats – Everybody from Bend
A fishing boat based out of Winchester Bay, owned by a Bend couple, suffered an engine room explosion last week and immediately began sinking. A partner fishing boat was nearby and picked up Mark and Cynthia Schneider AND their two cats. The cats were the last to abandon ship and swam the length of a football field through the water to the rescue boat.
The story somehow failed to make the Oregon news media outlets except for Bend TV station KTVZ where the couple live. Here’s the story as it appeared in the Huffington Post this week. Click here.
