The two day Great Albacore Tuna BBQ Battle attracted large crowds of appreciative tuna consuming officianadoes, some of the proceeds of which will find their way into the Newport Food Pantry to help some of the town’s neediest families – especially those with children. The event was also in celebration of the second full year since NOAA adopted Newport as their new Pacific Ocean headquarters for their large oceanographic research fleet of ships.
