Michael Anderson, a member of the Yaquina Arts Association Photographers, was honored this week by peers and jurors for high-quality fine art photography in international competition.
Photographs created by Michael Anderson were recently been accepted into the General and Loan Collections of Professional Photographers of America’s 2013 International Photographic Competition. Anderson’s work will be on display at the Phoenix Convention Center, January
12-14, 2014, in Phoenix, AZ. This International Photographic Exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers and several photographic associations from around the world.
A panel of 43 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,000 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 1,800 images were selected for the General Collection and just 682 (about 7 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best.
Anderson’s photograph titled, Sanctuary, was selected for the General Collection and his photography titled Wind Power was selected for the Loan Collection. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book by Marathon Press. Both of Anderson’s photographs will be in the International Photographic Exhibition alongside other top photographic works from the competition and traveling and special invitational displays. Only 11 photographers in the State of Oregon had their work accepted in the General Collection and only 6 photographers in Oregon had their work accepted in the Loan Collection.
Anderson, who lives half time in Lincoln City, is known for his donations of his fine art photography to fund charities. He is also an active member of the Yaquina Arts Association Photographers and he has received numerous awards from the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs, Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association as well as other awards from the Professional Photographers of America in past years.
