Taft: 17′ boat with four aboard stuck in the low tide mud in Siletz Bay
5:06pm
Fire rescue is enroute to a report of a 17 foot inboard/outboard boat with four aboard, stuck in the mud, possibly at the south end of Siletz Bay.
The next low tide is at 8:40pm this evening and another high tide at 2:07am early tomorrow morning.
Those aboard the boat say they’re not exactly sure where they are, but they believe they’re at the south end of Siletz Bay near the Highway 101 bridge.
Aboard the boat are two adult males, one adult female and a juvenile male.
5:10pm
North Lincoln Fire Rescue is on scene, deploying jet skis/rescue swimmers.
5:16pm
North Lincoln Fire Rescue says a GPS reading on the stranded boat indicates they’re about a half mile west of the Highway 101 bridge, off a small residential area on the bay side of Highway 101.
5:45pm
Fire rescue personnel say the fog is so thick they can barely see 100 feet in front of them. The people on the boat, communicating with fire-rescue with their cell phone, say they they’re cold, but that’s all.
6:16pm
Sounds like everybody is back on shore. And OK.
