The public is invited to attend a free presentation Wednesday, August 14, to hear about the overall health and well-being of Lincoln County residents. The purpose of this event is to present findings from a Community Health Assessment that has been underway since 2012, led by Lincoln County Public Health Division in partnership with interested community organizations and volunteers.
The presentation will be held:
Wednesday, August 14, 2013, 10 am to noon
Oregon Coast Community College
Community Room 400 SE College Way Newport
This event is free, open to all, and everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend. Topics to be covered at this presentation include:
People and Place—who lives in this community that we call home, and how the physical environment where we live affects our health.
Opportunities for looking at various factors in our community that affect our overall health, such as education, employment,
housing, access to medical care, andothers.
Healthy Living Indicators — a look at children’s health, various mental health conditions, physical activity and nutrition, alcohol, tobacco and prescription drug use and prevention of chronic diseases.
Disease and Injury — an overview of what are the leading causes of death and disease currently in Lincoln County.
Health is not just about individuals, but includes families, communities, and systems, and is a result of the interaction of complex networks of conditions and factors. Health starts long before illness occurs and is impacted by where and how we live, learn, work, play and age.
