After a month’s long investigation, a Florence man has been jailed on suspicion of burglarizing a residence in Yachats and another in Florence.
Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff’s say that Robert Mills Jr, 41, broke into a Yachats home on Oceanwayside Lane via a door to the garage and stole an estimate $12,000 in property. At the time, Mills was seen by a neighbor acting suspiciously around the residence.
Nearly a month later Lane County Deputies and Florence Police Officers found an illegal campsite set up on private property in a remote area of Lane County where they found a large cache of stolen property, some of which turned out to be stolen from the Yachats Oceanwayside Lane residence.
Two weeks later a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted Mills north of Florence and pulled him over. The deputy arrested Mills for burglary and theft in connection with the Yachats burglary and for another one in Lane County. Mills was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on the charges where he is being held on $150,000 bail.
Florence Police and Lane and Lincoln County Deputies are furthering their investigation and anticipate more arrests in connection with the burglaries and thefts.
