Reports of loud fireworks going off in the Rhoda Street area of Seal Rock at quarter to three in the morning was a prelude to something a bit more spectacular that followed right behind it. It appears that burning embers from the fireworks fell down on top of a pickup parked in the driveway.
Deputies say the embers ignited the canopy of the pickup, and soon it was burning brighter than the fireworks. It was a total loss.
Deputies say that Sterling Morris, 38, of Toledo, set the fireworks off and was charged with reckless burning. The pickup, by the way, belonged to his girlfriend.
