Port of Newport Commmissioners Tuesday evening consulted with their hired “Head Hunter” to refine the selection protocol to replace retiring General Manager Don Mann. Commissioners settled on a job description, salary range and benefits package so that the recruiter can begin advertising that there is a general manager opening at the Port of Newport.
Commissioners agreed that the new the advertised salary range will be at least $90,000 a year “but could vary depending on the successful candidate – so it’s obviously negotiable. Same for the benefits package. Negotiable for the “right candidate.”
Commissioners say they want the port’s new general manager to start work December 1st so that he or she can get a full month of experience by sitting next to Don Mann who will be leaving the port effective January 1st.
