Volunteer Training Planned for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocates
My Sisters’ Place will hold a volunteer training in late July, early August. People interested in helping victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and dating abuse are encouraged to attend the classes, which will be held Monday July 29th- Friday August 2nd and the following week Monday August 5th-Friday August 9th from 12-4pm. Participants can attend all of the classes, or a combination of them. Any training modules not completed in this session, can be completed later. The organization currently has vacancies on their volunteer staff. There are many opportunities and a variety of positions open. This is an opportunity for men and women in Lincoln County to make a difference locally in the lives of survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. My Sisters’ Place needs volunteers to continue providing quality services to our community.
Classes will be held at the Newport Advocacy office beginning July 29th at 12pm. Topics include: Domestic Violence 101, Effects of Domestic Violence on Children, and Adults Molested as Children, Cultural Awareness and Competency, and Anti-Oppression Training.
