A break in in a water line was quickly dealt with at 2pm. All water to the Bayfront is back on.
Public Works Crews converged on a series of underground pipes and valves at Bay Road and Eads, finding water was leaking from one of them. They had originally estimated that based on water loss measured on one of their city gauges that it was a large leak so they expected the worst and told the Bayfront to expect their water to be off for up to three hours, roughly the estimated time to repair a major leak in a 12″ line.
But when they dug out the area and got a close look at what went wrong they were able to get things under control quickly. Soon all water was back on along the Bayfront with crews buttoning up the hole in the sidewalk and the hole dug in the shoulder of the asphalt.
