Although there are celebrations going on in a number of U.S. states, states like Oregon are largely unaffected by the ruling that struck down the Defense of Marriage Act – effectively outlawing same sex marital benefits. It offered the opportunity for California Governor Jerry Brown the opportunity to immediately declare California’s Proposition 8 invalid, throwing open the doors to same sex marriage with full marital benefits.
