Coast State Representative David Gomberg opposes proposed federal law that would heap a big burden onto small businesses in Oregon
A bill being discussed in the U.S. Congress has caught the attention of Oregon Coast State Representative David Gomberg and he doesn’t like. At all.
Gomberg said that the so-called “Marketplace Fairness Act” would place a huge burden on small Oregon businesses which are struggling just to survive in this horribly prolonged recession. He said Oregon is one of just four states that does not levy a general sales tax. But if the federal legislation passes making all businesses in the country collect a sales tax for the hometown buyers in their stores or ordering on the internet, it would be a big blow to their bottom lines.
