Four youngsters on a weekend outing with their parents at Beverly Beach learned the hard way to watch for rip currents before they jump into the ocean.
On Saturday the boys entered the surf at the Beverly Beach and soon found themselves headed seaward. Not knowing how to escape a rip current, they were quickly swept offshore. But a high school sports coach from Bend, who was also on the beach, saw their plight and immediately began rescuing them.
