Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Dave Carey fills us in:
As anyone who has been to the Lincoln County courthouse recently can attest, many changes have been occurring as we take steps neccesary to make our courthouse a safer place for our employees and visitors. Many of these changes had to occur in stages and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
An armed officer from TCB Security recently began working inside the new public entry at the southwest corner of the building. This is now the only public entrance and exit.
Effective today, June 21st, this area is an active security checkpoint. People entering the courthouse are subject to screening which involves walking through a metal detector and placing items on a baggage scanner. No prohibited items will be allowed into the building and none will be held while citizens conduct business in the courthouse. If it’s not allowed, don’t bring it with you.
Prohibited items include firearms, ammunition, knives of any size, or other items that could be used as a weapon. For a detailed list of prohibited items go to our website at http://www.lincolncountysheriff.net/Excluded_items_list.pdf or just click here.
We are committed to make this new system operate as smooth as possible, with as little inconvenience as possible, while making our courthouse a safer place.
Should any further changes occur, more information will be released.
