Yarn Over Yachats Part of WWKIP for Second Year
WorldWide Knitting in Public is a zany event that brings knitters out of their closets and into the streets. All over the world, people with knitting needles and balls of yarn will be knitting and purling in public places—parks, train stations, schools, coffee houses. Whatever is defined as “public,” knitters will be there, needles clicking.
Yachats, Oregon is no exception. An avid group of knitters, members of the Yarn Over Yachats group, will meet in front of the Yachats Commons by the flagpole on Saturday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate. If you don’t knit, bring other handiwork such as embroidery, tatting, hooking, needlepoint, etc. If you don’t do anything, c’mon down anyway and chat with the local and visiting knitters. There will be expert knitters available to teach you how to knit or help solve knotty problems. All ages are welcome.
Last year, Yarn Over Yachats created fabulous knitted critters and installed them all over town. Some of them will be on display again around the flagpole. Part of the chatting will be purposeful—what do we want to do for WWKIP 2014? Bring your creative ideas with you!
