Here’s what’s new this season at the Saturday Newport Farmer’s Market!
Northwest Berries will be joining us for the first time this season. They are located on the pavement down toward the west end across from Gathering Together and between Sitka Springs and Debby’s Fancies. Roylin’s Lollycakes is a new vendor this year. Very fanciful cupcakes and cakes on a stick. She is located on the pavement about 3 booths east of Gathering Together. Pullino’s Artisan Pasta offer fresh handmade pasta in a variety of flavors.
Spring has brought fresh strawberries to the market early in the season this year along with lots of greens and fresh spring vegetables. Chicken eggs are also abundant this time of year. We have lots of new arts and crafts this year and a new hot food vendor, Souperb! serving hot, made-fresh-at-the-market soups and grilled cheese sandwiches (on delicious sourdough bread!, eh, hm…..). As Spring progresses we can look for lots more vegetables arriving, more berry varieties and summer fruits just around the corner. The warm spring has also brought beautiful flowers to the market, both cut bouquets and in pots for growing at home. It is also a great time to buy plants for your garden, veggies and decorative plants and trees as well.
The Lemonade Project is in full swing, this year we have a great group of students running the booth twice a month. We would love to have more volunteers for the alternate weeks, if anyone is interested stop by the stand and talk to Bonnie! The Lemonade Project sells fresh squeezed lemonade and the proceeds are used help low income SNAP shoppers extend their purchasing power by providing matching funds. For more information please stop by the Market Managers table inside City Hall during market hours.
