FIREWORKS! You can light a match or experience the brilliance of Tutunov performing two of Rachmaninoff’s Etude-tableaux
Internationally acclaimed pianist Alexander Tutunov will close the 5th season for OCCMS on Saturday, June 1 at 7PM at an ocean-view home in Depoe Bay. The popular Dr. Tutunov will perform selections by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Prokofiev, and Debussy to a full house.
Dr. Tutunov is in constant demand in concert halls around the globe; he also prepares award-winning students as a successful Professor of Piano and Artist in Residence at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras on radio and television and is frequently asked to serve as an adjudicator for piano competitions. Tutunov’s extensive repertoire includes major sonatas, concertos, rhapsodies, and symphonies by at least 21 well-known classical composers . The History Channel documentary Russia: Land of Tsars featured his recording of the Abeliovich Piano Concerto as part of its Emmy award-winning soundtrack.
Alexander Tutunov now lives with his family in Ashland, Oregon, but he began his successful musical studies and career in Russia where he is recognized as one of the most outstanding virtuosos of the former Soviet Union. He graduated magna cum laude from the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory.
The opportunity to see a performer of Tutunov’s caliber is thanks to the efforts of OCCMS founder, Chuck Day. Although no longer directly involved with this concert series, Mr. Day has left a valuable legacy to the community and has inspired his successors to continue the unique goal of bringing chamber music back into the home as it was originally intended.
