State Troopers say a sleepy motorist drifted from northbound into the soundbound lane of 101 just south of Depoe Bay this morning, sideswiping a double trailer Les Schwab truck. The truck suffered several damaged trailer wheels but the driver was not injured.
However, the driver of the car was. She was not immediately identified but a trooper said it appears she’s from Gresham. She was alert and talking with paramedics as they loaded her aboard an awaiting ambulance.
Traffic was backed up for well over an hour. The wreck was cleared at around 11:35 and both lanes of 101 were re-opened.
The Les Schwab store in Newport was reported to be enroute to the accident scene with several semi-truck wheels and tires.
