The Coast Guard reports the 28 foot pleasure craft Amy Lee, with three persons aboard, has lost power about a mile and a half off the beach, straight west of the Newport Airport.
A request for mariners assistance has gone out over the Coast Guard radio frequencies and they’re waiting to see if anyone is coming to the aid of the boat. The Coast Guard says the Amy Lee is not in imminent danger so they’ll give the situation another 15 to 20 minutes to see if anyone responds to the call for help. If no one does, they’ll launch a 47 foot motor lifeboat to the scene, see if the crew can restart the boat’s motor. If they can’t, the Coast Guard will tow the Amy Lee back into Newport.
The Fishing Vessel Leila B broke down off Waldport last evening and was towed back into Newport late last night.
