Rep. David Gomberg, small business owner will bring expertise to Legislature’s job creation efforts.
SALEM- In ongoing efforts to create jobs and support Oregon small businesses, Rep. David Gomberg (D-Newport) today was among six legislators appointed to the new bipartisan House Small Business Task Force in the Oregon House of Representatives. House Speaker Tina Kotek (D-Portland) announced the appointment of a legislative task force to support small businesses and continue work on job creation.
The House Small Business Task Force will focus its work on existing bills that benefit small businesses and develop recommendations for policy concepts that will help business growth and job creation. Gomberg will join a cadre of other small business owners and legislators with economic development expertise to examine and cultivate small business and job creation policy.
“Rep. Gomberg is a long time small business owner and leader in the Central coast’s small business community,” Kotek said. “His experience and expertise will ensure the House continues to make small business growth and job creation a top priority.”
Gomberg stated, “I am honored to have been appointed to this position, and I look forward to finding innovative solutions for job creation, protecting small businesses and advocating for the economic recovery of our state. Small businesses create jobs, and these are issues that I take very seriously as part of our commitment to improving the lives of Oregonians.”
The task force will meet several times before the end of session with a focus on small business legislation currently under consideration. The group will continue its work into the interim, with a goal of gathering ideas for potential legislative concepts for the 2014 Session.
David Gomberg represents the Central Oregon Coast and Coastal Range in House District 10. He and his wife, Susan, operate Gomberg Kite Productions, a nationwide wholesale business, and Northwest Winds Kites in Lincoln City and Seaside.
