Representative David Gomberg has invited Jill Lyon, chair of the Yaquina River Museum of Art Board of Directors, to display the work of local artists in the State Capitol as the second of several planned gallery displays to be rotated throughout the Gomberg office during Legislative Session 2013.
Representative Gomberg, a strong supporter of local art and culture, began looking for ways to showcase district art when the legislative session began.
The configuration of the Representatives’ office gave Rep. Gomberg an interesting opportunity. “Most Legislative offices only have half-walls. Our full wall makes it possible to support local artists, display their work and allow my colleagues to see the beauty and talent that comes from our district,” he said.
Art for the exhibit was selected by Jill Lyon and Toledo Mayor Ralph Grutzmacher. “It is an honor to exhibit the artists who enrich our district,” said Gomberg.
Local artists displayed include Ivan Kelly, Becky Miller, Heather Fortner and Robert Trusty. Styles represented include oil paintings, fish prints and coastal photographs.
The art work can be viewed in the Gomberg office throughout the month of May.
