Make an Informed Choice Meet the Devils Lake Water Improvement District Candidates

“Meet the Devils Lake Water Improvement District Candidates” presents a chance for residents and the press to hear directly from candidates on a range of issues confronting the water district and the community. The event sponsors hope voters will leave the forum informed and educated about the candidates and their positions.

Pat and Mary Dooling have agreed to host the first meet and greet event at their home on Horseshoe Bay. This open house event is scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Saturday May 4th at 4799 NE East Devils Lake Drive. Jack Strayer and Mark Christie will be there to meet attendees, discuss their positions and hear residents concerns. The candidates will also be available on Sunday May 5th at Mitchell and Dana Moore’s house at 2929 NE Loop Drive from 10:00 until noon for coffee and conversation. Please come by one of these events to participate in these important forums.

Jack Strayer has agreed to participate in both events. Jack is a veteran of the DLWID Board having served as a board member and chair. During his time on the Board Jack was known for ensuring that the voice of the public was taken into consideration when deliberations began. Jack was the Board representative on the Communications Committee which drafted a plan to improve the Districts relationship with the public. Even today those efforts have had a positive impact. Jack is passionate about ensuring that the District’s actions are backed by scientific facts and is committed to maintaining recreational lake levels sufficient to protect the lakes fishery and ensure the lake can be used by all. Mark Christie has also agreed to participate in both events. He is an experienced public servant who has spent fifteen years on the Sherwood School District’s Board of Directors as a member and chair. In those roles he was known for his transparent leadership skills working thorough many tough issues which engaged stakeholders, administrators and parents reaching a consensus result. Mark has vowed to bring his experience and devoted interest in Devils Lake to his participation on the board.
