The Erickson Air Museum in Tillamook has dropped a bomb on the community that has enjoyed enhanced tourism because of it. They’re leaving. They’re taking the museum and all of its aircraft to an airstrip in Madras, in Central Oregon. There, Erickson will build a new 65,000 square foot add-on to their already existing aerial fire fighting operation based at the airport.
Erickson had been in negotiations with Newport for a time to re-locate their museum to the Newport Airport, but those negotiations went cold a number of months ago.
