There is a 100 x 100 foot lot on SW 15th in Lincoln City that is owned by the city that the city would like to develop. They think it would do well as a specialty food store, kite store, or for some other tourist or vacation rental retail outlet. It’s owned by a sub-department of the city called the Urban Renewal Agency that brings with it some possible city subsidies to help with the construction of what could be a two story, 5,000 square foot store.
City staff told the council (acting as the Urban Renewal Agency) that a consultant’s analysis looked at a wide variety of uses for the property but settled on a 100% commercial use since that would probably be required to make it pencil out.
The council told urban renewal staff to draw up a development proposal that they could review. And if they approve it, the project could go out to bid. Staff said they could present the council with a draft proposal sometime in March. Again, since it is an urban renewal project, there could be cash incentives to any developer who steps forward to bid on whatever project proposal the council approves.
