No Tsunami headed our way

An earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale has rattled the Santa Cruz Island Islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean northeast of Australia. Stay tuned to your NOAA weather radio for further updates. We’ll post them here as well.

NOAA has the earthquake centered in the extreme Southwestern Pacific at 10 degrees south, 160 degrees west. Measured 8.0 on the Richter. NOAA is ascertaining whether there could be a tsunami headed our way. But for now, THERE IS NO OFFICIAL PREDICTION WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A TSUNAMI.

NOAA determined that THERE IS NO TSUNAMI HEADED FOR THE U.S. NORTHWEST COAST. However, NOAA reports there may be minor fluctuations in tidal levels which should not cause any damage.
