From Newport Finance Director David Marshall
CITY OF NEWPORT ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS AND ON-LINE PAYMENTS FOR UTILITY BILLS
Effective immediately, the City of Newport is able to accept credit/debit cards and on-line payments for utility bills. As a part of its conversion to a new utility billing software, customers will notice improved service with more readable bills, and the ability to pay with debit/credit cards or online.
Finance Director David Marshall reported that “the city has been working on the utility billing software conversion for some time; the bugs have been worked out; and staff is looking forward to working with customers who wish to utilize the new payment methods.”
At this time, only utility bills are able to be paid on-line or with a credit/debit card. Eventually, the city will be able to accept municipal court and other payments on-line or with a credit/debit card. The city continually endeavors to improve customer service and increase efficiency.
