Roby’s Furniture closed Tuesday, February 5th for “Serve Day” to all the communities they have Roby’s stores in them.
On Tuesday, February 5th Roby’s will be closed in observance of their 2nd annual Serve Day.
All five Roby’s coastal locations will be closed for a day of community service. Over 300 hours of time will be given to the communities of Astoria, Tillamook, Lincoln City, Newport and Florence.
The idea formed in the minds of co-owners, Andrea Langeliers and her brother, Ryan Lewis, both of whom graduated from George Fox University where an annual serve day was strongly suggested for attendance.
Roby’s Team Members in Florence will work at the Florence Food Share. Newport’s Team Members will give their time to the Lincoln County Food Share, the animal shelter and is scheduled to do a room make-over for a couple of middle school age kids. Lincoln City Team Members will help a needy family make their home more functional for their needs; and Tillamook Team Members will help remodel the House of Grace, a women’s transitional house, also donate time to “New to Used”, a faith-based thrift store in the area. Finally, Team Members in Astoria will spend their day at the Clatsop Food Bank and the Astoria community garden.
Co-owner Andrea Langeliers adds, “It’s so nice to be able to close our store for the day and focus on what is really important in our lives. Serving the people that call the coast home is our objective at Roby’s, and it’s great to translate that into some good old-fashioned community service.”
